Here you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) from our valued customers:
Do I need an Australian driver’s licence to rent a car from Aloe?
No. We accept international driver licences (a passport copy, and current Visa are required if don’t have an Australian driver licence).
You need to have your licence for a minimum of 6 months and not have had your licence suspended or cancelled within the last 2 years.
I am under 25 years old - Can I rent from Aloe?
Yes. We are able to hire to drivers from 21 years old. However if you are younger than 25 years old, you are subject to an increased liability and special conditions will apply.
Where can I drive my rental car?
Our standard area of use is between Sunshine Coast (QLD) and Balina (NSW). Our cars can be take outside this areas, however we must be notified upon booking and additional charges may apply.
Can I take the car to the nearby Islands such as Moreton, North Stradbroke, Bribie Island, etc?
Can I drive the vehicle anywhere else other than the islands?
No. You must never drive the vehicle on an Unsealed Road, Off Road, on Roads that are prone to flooding or are flooded, beaches, sand dunes, streams, rivers, creeks, dams, or any other road where it would be unsafe to drive the vehicle.
Where is the pick up/drop off location?
Our Office and the main pick up/drop off location is at Merrimac, Gold Coast. We also offer free pick up and return from Robina Train Station.
Can I pick up my car from the Gold Coast Airport, or somewhere else?
Yes. You can pick up and return the vehicle from one of the following locations: Gold Coast Airport, Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Miami, Mermaid Waters, Broadbeach, Nerang and Robina for a small extra fee.
Do the cars have comprehensive insurance included?
Yes. All of our cars have full comprehensive insurance which covers single and multi vehicle accidents, fire, theft, hail damages.
How much do I need to pay if we need to use the insurance excess?
The damage liability for each age group is listed below:
21-25 years: $2500
25-70 years: $1500
What happens if I am involved in an accident?
If you are involved in an accident you must contact us on 0450 062 885 or 0426 275 984 immediately. If there is another party involved in the accident you must collect their following info: Copy of the drive’s licence (front and back), phone number and email address. We will action from there, and you don’t need to do anything else. ONLY Aloe Rentals is allowed to deal with any insurance or tows.
Who may drive the hired vehicle?
What happens if I get an infringement notice?
Any fines incurred during your rental period are your responsibility. If we receive any infringements for you, we will complete the statutory declaration online and the authorities will forward the infringement notice on to you. If you do not have an Australian driver licence or a Customer Reference Number from the Departments of Transport, an admin fee of $50 to complete the manual statutory declaration may apply each time. The costs of postage will also be charged.
What happens if I get a toll ticket?
We advise our clients to download the LINKT app and add the car registration number in case you intend to drive somewhere with TOLLS such as Brisbane area. If you choose to not do it, and you receive a toll invoice, you will be liable to refund us the toll ticket amount plus an admin fee of $20 for each invoice.
Do I need to pay upfront?
Yes. The minimum Rental Period for short term rentals is 2 days and for long term rentals is 4 weeks. Advance payment of the Rental Charges is always required and the period for ongoing Rental Charges depends on whether it is a short or long term rental.
For Long Term Contracts (minimum Rental Period is 4 weeks): The Rental Charges must be paid on a weekly basis no less than seven (7) days in advance.
Do I need a security deposit?
Yes. We require a security deposit of $500 to be paid upon the booking. Once the contract is ended and a post rental inspection is completed the security deposit will be returned to the client within 5 business days.
What type of fuel should I use?
Unleaded 95 or 98 ONLY. If you use the wrong type of fuel you will be liable for any damages that may occur.
Should I refill the fuel tank of the car before returning it?
Yes, all vehicles must be returned with the fuel tank full. If you fail to do so, the amount to fill the tank will be charged plus a refuelling fee of $20.
Do I need to clean the car before returning it?
It’s up to you if you would like to clean the vehicle prior to returning it. If you choose to NOT do so, a cleaning fee will be charged depending on the condition the vehicle is returning. Minimum cleaning fees charges are $80.
