Do I need an Australian driver’s licence to rent a car from Aloe?

We accept international driver licences. However, if you do not hold an Australian licence, you must also provide a copy of your passport and a valid Customer Reference Number (CRN). Drivers must have held a full licence for at least 12 months and must not have had their licence suspended or cancelled within the past 5 years

I am under 25 years old - Can I rent from Aloe?

Unfortunately, no. Drivers must be between 25 and 75 years of age.

Where can I drive my rental car?

Our standard area of use is between Sunshine Coast (QLD) and Balina (NSW). Our cars can be taken outside this areas, however we must be notified upon booking and additional charges may apply.

Can I take the car to the nearby Islands such as Moreton, North Stradbroke, Bribie Island, etc?

NO. The vehicle MUST NOT be driven on unsealed roads, off-road, through flooded or flood-prone areas, or on beaches, sand dunes, streams, rivers, creeks, dams, or any other terrain deemed unsafe for driving.

How much do I need to pay if we need to use the insurance excess?

The damage liability for each claim is $1500.

Where is the pick up/drop off location?

Our office and main pick-up/drop-off location is in Nerang, Gold Coast, QLD. Alternative locations may be available upon request and small fee.

Can I pick up my car from the Gold Coast Airport, or somewhere else?

Yes. You can pick up and return the vehicle from one of the following locations: Gold Coast Airport, Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Miami, Mermaid Waters, Broadbeach, Nerang and Robina for a small extra fee.

Do the cars have comprehensive insurance included?

Yes, all of our cars include full comprehensive insurance.

What happens if I am involved in an accident?

If you are involved in an accident, you must contact us immediately on 0403 852 021If another party is involved, please collect the following information: a copy of their driver’s licence (front and back), phone number, address, and email address. From there, we will handle the process—no further action is required from you. Only Aloe Rentals is authorised to deal with any third parties, including insurers and tow services.

Who may drive the hired vehicle?
Only you or an Authorised driver can drive the vehicle. All drivers must have a written approval to drive and all documentation must be provided in advance. 
What happens if I get an infringement notice?

Any fines or infringements incurred during your rental period are your responsibility. If we receive an infringement notice on your behalf, we will submit the statutory declaration online, and the relevant authority will forward the notice directly to you. If you do not hold an Australian driver licence or a Customer Reference Number (CRN) from the Department of Transport, a $50 administration fee may apply for each manual statutory declaration. Postage costs will also be charged.

What happens if I get a toll ticket?

We recommend downloading the Linkt app and adding the vehicle’s registration number if you plan to drive on toll roads, such as those in the Brisbane area. If you choose not to set this up and we receive a toll notice on your behalf, you will be responsible for reimbursing the toll amount plus a $20 administration fee per notice.

Do I need to pay upfront?

Yes, our minimum rental period for long-term rentals is 4 weeks, and advance payment is required. Rental charges must be paid weekly, at least seven (7) days in advance, starting from the contract commencement date.

Do I need a security deposit?

Yes. We require a security deposit of $500 to be paid upon the booking. Once the contract is ended and a post rental inspection is completed the security deposit will be returned to the client within 5 business days.

What type of fuel should I use?

Unleaded 95 or 98 ONLY. If you use the wrong type of fuel you will be liable for any damages that may occur.

Should I refill the fuel tank of the car before returning it?

Yes, all vehicles must be returned with the fuel tank full. If you fail to do so, the amount to fill the tank will be charged plus a refuelling fee of $20.

Do I need to clean the car before returning it?

It’s up to you whether you’d like to clean the vehicle before returning it. If you choose not to, a cleaning fee will apply based on the condition of the vehicle upon return. The minimum cleaning fee is $80.
